For a child from an socially and economically challenged family, it is difficult to aspire to achieve, to break out of the vicious circle of life. Suheim Sheikh, an IIT-M alumnus, and an award winning software designer, gave up his corporate career in favour of literally giving sails to these children, and to empower them with dignity through this sport. His talk, where he tells you how he catalyzed the transformation in the lives of these children, will win your hearts! From walking barefoot to the club where he coaches them, to representing India in the International Championships, these are some amazingly inspirational voyages that we all learn a thing or two from. Once an award-winning software product designer, Suheim Sheikh traded in his clicks on the mouse with the ones on his camera, pursuing his passion of photography and sailing. An accomplished International sailor himself, Suheim has produced 6 National Champions, 25 National medalists and 10 State Champions through his NGO titled The Yacht Club of Hyderabad, which is the largest not-for-profit training establishment teaching economically challenged kids to sail competitively at international levels by providing them full-service patronage with a fleet of more than 100 boats. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

Auto Generated Captions
